The use of interim managers is no exception and, currently, all the major global players are making use of interim specialists in a wide range of roles for a number of different reasons.

Schering-Plough named in top 50 best places to work in UK

Schering-Plough UK has been named as one of best places to work in the country, based on a survey of the company's employees.

Based in Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire, Schering-Plough UK was placed at 39 in the 2006 survey, the first time the company has taken part in the research.

There are a number of general surveys of UK workplaces, but the 'Best Places to Work' research carried out by Great Place to Work Institute is one of the most authoritative and best established.

Medicom expands into branding

PR and medical education group Medicom has launched a new consultancy that offers product and corporate branding services.

The new division, named Medibrand, is headed by managing director Stephen Page and creative director Zuleika Burnett, who join the Medicom group from brand communications agency Core-Create.

Page said Medibrand will offer an imaginative approach for communicating with a client's target audiences.

Recruitment company Levy Associates have become one of the UK's fastest growing companies thanks to their success in matching talented clinical staff with pharma employers.

The St Albans-based company was ranked in the recent Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100, an annual list of the UK's fastest growing companies, just six years after being launched by managing director Lawrence Levy.

In the pharma industry personnel development seems to be viewed from a short-term perspective. Where personnel development is undertaken, process driven training seems to be the current norm, even if it only provides a foundation.

Provision of more advanced training to arm marketers with the approaches and thinking to become expert and courageous marketers, who can make a difference, is sadly lacking.

StayinFront wins Roche regional contract

Roche will equip its Central and Eastern European salesforces with StayinFront customer relationship management software after expanding its current contract with the company.

The pharmaceutical company will deploy the StayinFront Life Sciences system across most of the Central and Eastern European countries in which it operates.

This follows a similar deal signed just a year ago to equip 11 of Roche's business units in Western Europe, a project StayinFront is already a substantial part of the way through.
