OPEN Health reveals new CEO appointment

Rob Barker has been named as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at health communications and market access group OPEN Health, replacing current CEO and Co-Founder David Rowley, who has been in the role for a decade.

Barker steps into the head role after six years at the company, having most recently served as CEO of Open Health’s Medical Communications practice. Over the course of his 30-year career in biopharmaceuticals, Barker has held a number of executive leadership roles at companies including Huntsworth Health, The Central Group and Medicus International.

Seb Coe: pharma needs to collaborate more

British Olympic Association chair Sebastian Coe has called on pharma firms to participate more in corporate-sponsored disease prevention projects and government healthcare consultations. 

Coe was speaking in London as an ‘international ambassador’ for sportswear giant Nike’s ‘Designed to Move’ campaign. The initiative seeks to promote physical activity worldwide and has the backing of numerous commercial sponsors. 

OPEN Health acquires market access specialists pH Associates

Kate Peperell: partnership with OPEN Health will help pH Associates to meet growing demand for data and widen its market access offering

 

OPEN Health Communications is to acquire pH Associates, a consultancy specialising in ‘Real World Data’ and market access issues.

The health communications group OPEN Health says the addition will bolster the current market access practices of both Harvey Walsh and Succinct Market Access within the group.

OPEN Health invests in Harvey Walsh

Harvey Walsh, a market access and healthcare intelligence company, is to join forces with OPEN Health, the healthcare communications group. 

OPEN Health has taken a 51% stake in Harvey Walsh, with options to increase this stake to 100% in time. 

Harvey Walsh directors Julia Wilkins and Sue Beecroft will form a new executive board alongside OPEN Health’s Cory Inglis, David Rowley and Roger Selman. 

Open Health appoints new digital designer

Leo Jacobs has been appointed by Open Health as a digital designer to sit within its OPEN Source team.

The health comms firm said it is bolstering its digital capability whilst its project list continues to grow, and Jacobs who joined its Marlow office will be working on Open Health’s latest iPad and web applications.

Previously, Jacobs worked in Japan and India on projects as diverse as UNICEF websites and e-commerce platforms and brings more than 14 years’ experience to the team.

Succinct to join OPEN Health

Specialist med comms consultancy Succinct Communications is to be acquired by the OPEN Health group.

OPEN Health is part of the Chime Communications group, which includes the UK’s largest PR Group, Bell Pottinger, and the award-winning consumer agency, VCCP.

Succinct will provide the medical communications backbone within the recently-formed OPEN Health group.  The current med comms business within OPEN Health (OPEN Minds) will be re-branded as Succinct, but there will be no changes to existing services and all client contracts will remain in place.

OPEN Health launches research service

Healthcare communications agency OPEN Health, has launched OPEN Plan, a market research and brand planning specialist team.

The company says OPEN Plan will provide global and domestic market research solutions and has qualitative, online, quantitative, deliberative and collaborative capabilities. It says the combination of global healthcare, consumer and pharma industry expertise will provide clients with the insight to develop elegant strategic and tactical communication solutions. 

Lane, Earl & Cox acquired by Open Health

Chime’s newly-launched healthcare comms shop Open Health has bought established UK health advertising agency Lane, Earl & Cox.

It will be rebranded as Open LEC, with deputy managing director Matthew Baker promoted to managing director as well as taking a partnership in Open Health.

LEC was founded in 1993 and has worked on brands including Lipitor, Losec, Vioxx, Aricept, Symbicort, Atripla and Prozac.
