Senate Finance Comittee Chairman, Chuck Grassley calls on Novartis to reveal details of data scandal

Chuck Grassley, Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, has demanded that Novartis give up details on the faulty data scandal surrounding Zolgensma.

In a letter to Novartis CEO Vas Narismhan, Senator Grassley described the Swiss firm’s actions as “reprehensible” as he suggested that “the conduct ought to be investigated and, as appropriate, punished to the full extent of the law.”

Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) execs testify before US Senate

Executives representing pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) appeared before the US Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday as they testified on the rising prices of prescription drugs.

In contrast to pharmaceutical company executives, who appeared before the senate in February 2019, the PBM execs blamed pharma for rising prices.

Pharma execs had in February pointed towards insurers and PBMs in suggesting the middlemen were responsible for rising prescription drugs prices in the United States.

Senior Executives from seven major pharmaceutical companies, including AbbVie, AstraZeneca, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Merck & Co., Pfizer, Sanofi and Johnson & Johnson appeared before the US Senate Finance Committee (SFC) on Tuesday to testify on the high prices of drugs in the United States.
