Watermeadow is the proud sponsor of a team of Burford fire fighters and their colleagues who cycled 983 miles from John O’Groats to Lands End raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity and Help for Heroes.

The cycle ride, which took place 5-18th June, was a huge success and raised a grand total of £31,537 and, as well as raising money for charity, the group also delivered an important road safety message on the way as part of Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service’s ‘365alive’ initiative. This scheme aims to ensure there are an additional 365 people alive when compared to the fatality data of those killed in fires and on roads from 1996 to 2006. The two chosen charities will be receiving half of the sponsorship money each. The Fire Fighters Charity will use the money to provide pioneering treatment and support services while Help for Heroes aims to make a real difference to the lives of our wounded servicemen and women.
