A new study that alleges COVID-19 was created in a Chinese lab was published by two non-profits that are linked to President Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon, it has emerged.

The publishers are the Rule of Law Society and the Rule of Law Foundation which Bannon was instrumental in creating, and he served as the group’s chair. They were formed with Guo Wengui, a Chinese billionaire who has worked with Bannon on numerous efforts to target the Chinese government and their business endeavours. He fled to the US in 2014 after learning he was going to be arrested for alleged bribery, money laundering, kidnapping, fraud and rape. Bannon and Guo also worked together in forming G News, which has frequently suggested the coronavirus was designed by the Chinese military.

The study itself was co-authored by Dr Li-Meng Yan who too fled Hong Kong this year to escape the reach of the Chinese government. She told British daytime talk show Loose Women that: “This virus is not from nature” and the Chinese state is saying the virus originated in a Wuhan meat market as a “smoke screen” to hide the true origins of COVID-19.

The abstract of the study she co-authored says: “The evidence shows that SARS-CoV2 should be a laboratory product created by using bat coronaviruses ZC45 and/or ZXC21 as a template and/or backbone. Building upon the evidence, we further postulate a synthetic route for SARS-CoV-2, demonstrating that the laboratory-creation of this coronavirus is convenient and can be accomplished in approximately six months.

“Our work emphasizes the need for an independent investigation into the relevant research laboratories.”

The origins of this conspiracy theory come from 2018 when US diplomats and scientists had raised concerns about the Wuhan Institute of Virology, but an analysis published in The Lancet of the first 41 patients to be infected with COVID-19 found that 27 had direct exposure to the Wuhan market, where the virus is theorised to have originated from.
