After a long and theatrical election, Joe Biden has emerged as the next US President, setting a new direction that has many hopeful that 2021 will play out quite differently to this year. He has his work cut out in curbing a pandemic that has claimed more than 258,000 lives in the US so far.

Beyond just the US, hope has been reignited as we head into next year with the announcement of Phase 3 data from two COVID-19 vaccine candidates within the space of just a week or so in November; one from Moderna and the other from Pfizer and BioNTech, both demonstrating stellar levels of efficacy – around 95%, even in vulnerable groups such as the elderly who need protection the most.

You can find the story on both inside the latest issue. But besides the latest vaccine and industry news, the new issue also includes features on the diabetes space and how it has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and clinical trial outsourcing in the light of the new challenges the industry is facing today.

We also speak to the BioIndustry Association’s UK Antibody Taskforce to learn more about its crucial work in identifying potent antibody drug combinations which could help to prevent or treat COVID-19 infection.

To all our readers, have a great holiday period and New Year!
