Sanofi appoints Peter Guenter senior VP, Europe
Sanofi has promoted Peter Guenter to senior vice president, Europe, with effect from 15 July.
He is currently general manager for the company in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and in his new role he succeeds Belen Garijo, who leaves Sanofi for a global leadership role in another pharma company.
Sanofi’s president of global operations Hanspeter Spek said: “I would like to sincerely express my gratitude to Belen for her dedication to the company over the last 15 years. With her combination of experience, skill, passion and commitment, Belen was able to drive the transformation of Sanofi in Europe over the past several years. We wish her all the best for her new professional opportunity.
“The depth of knowledge and experience Peter gained through his previous management roles in Germany and in Europe, as well as his general business acumen make him ideally suited to lead Sanofi’s operations in Europe.”
Peter began his career in Sales at SmithKline in 1986 and moved to Sanofi in 1995. He subsequently held various positions in France, Europe and Global Marketing.
In 2000, he was appointed general manager Belgium and then VP for Eastern Europe, Northern Europe & Scandinavia. In 2008, he was appointed general manager, commercial operations for Germany, and since 2011, he has been general manager for the multi-country organisation for Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
