Merck appoints new chief strategy officer
Cuong Viet Do has joined Merck & Co as chief strategy officer, replacing Mervyn Turner who retired from the US pharma company over the summer.
Cuong moves to the company from TE Connectivity, formerly Tyco Electronics, where he served as senior vice president of corporate strategy and business development.
He has previously held roles at Lenovo and McKinsey & Company and currently sits on the board of pharmaceutical R&D outsourcing company WuXi AppTec.
In his new role at Merck he will report to the company’s president and chief executive Kenneth Frazier.
Frazier said: "As the health care environment continues to evolve, Cuong's expertise in developing and implementing global business strategy will help position Merck to deliver long-term value. Cuong will work closely with senior management to ensure that Merck continues to build on our tradition of innovation that helps improve and save lives around the world.”
