Published on: 30/11/09

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) has appointed Neal Patel as head of corporate communications.

Neal will join the RPSGB in mid December, taking over from Margaret Morgan who has held the role on an interim basis.

In his new role Neal will develop and implement strategic public relations programmes and all other aspects of external and stakeholder communications for the new professional leadership body.

A qualified pharmacist and Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, Neal has considerable communications experience and is currently head of communications at the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) where his responsibilities include the development and implementation of public campaigns.

Prior to the NPA he worked in varied management and professional roles for Boots the Chemists, was a member of the Professional Executive Committee of Brighton and Hove Primary Care Trust and Chaired Brighton Pharmacy Forum.

"I am very excited to be joining the RPSGB in this important role," said Neal. "I look forward to working with the new team, and for an organisation that has pledged to put members’ needs at the heart of everything it does, including and importantly, providing an influential voice for our profession.

“I will be working with pharmacists to create more opportunities for their role to be highlighted by the media and I look forward to building on the work of RPSGB to further increase recognition of pharmacists’ contribution to people’s health.”
